April 28, 2018 (Sat) Participating in the 2018 Bergen City Marathon in Norway It was an overcast and rainy day, with temperatures around 3–6°C. This time, my main goal was just to have a fun run. The full marathon started at 8:00 AM, with both the start and finish lines right next to the World Heritage Site Bryggen. My wife's 5K started at 12:00 PM, with its start area in Nygårdsparken. The scenery along the way was gorgeous—running past a World Heritage Site, through the old town, along mountain trails, and by the harbor. Taking in the lush green forests, colorful rooftops, and the vast ocean in the distance put me in an especially wonderful mood. The locals were very friendly, with constant shouts of "Heia!" (the Norwegian cheer). Spectators on the course took photos and videos of me, and many parents were running alongside their kids, making for a truly joyful atmosphere.
The next morning, I took the funicular up Mount Fløyen to look down over the entire seascape of Bergen. The weather was bright and clear, perfectly recreating that classic view. Then, I hiked along the trail to Lake Skomakerdiket, where the water was a deep azure. Walking through the Norwegian woods was truly refreshing and uplifting.
